Visualization is a method used to help people achieve their desired outcomes. The purpose is to obtain something in the future by imagining that you already have it now. Before anything is created it’s a simple thought first. By visualizing your desires you’re one step closer to achieving them. 

Returning to your past is part of the Reunite with You journey, so when you utilize a visualization you aren’t just envisioning the future. The goal is to remember your genuine sense of self and bring it into the present moment. From there, picture or feel how you can integrate your identity so that it follows you into the future.

In order to surrender to the moment you must become fully aware of the “Now”. For this to occur it’s helpful to aim your consciousness inside your body. The following visualization can be used whenever you find yourself pained by the past or frustrated at the future. Set aside 5 minutes in a relaxing environment where you can practice surrendering to the moment.

Do you want to let go of pain and find freedom?

Begin by finding a comfortable position, seated or lying down. There’s no need to eliminate any surrounding distractions that can’t be controlled. Allow yourself to be just as you are. Notice any thoughts, noises, smells, or other disturbances. This is your reality. It’s all that really exists for you in this moment. So let yourself become fully integrated into everything that’s happening around you.

Once you feel like you’ve come into the moment as best you can, close your eyes. Now turn your thoughts and awareness into a flashlight, or anything that’ll take your attention and point it in a specific direction. The goal is to imagine your mind uniting to focus on a singular spot within the body. 


Take your mind’s flashlight and, with your eyes closed, visualize the light shining inside your body. It takes a moment to adjust so there’s not a strong beam at first. Imagine the flashlight shining from afar as it thoroughly examines your body head to toe. As the light moves through your body, so does your consciousness. Now bring your flashlight closer. Point the light onto your toes and the soles of your feet. Let the light shine only on them so they have your complete attention. Bring awareness to each area of the body and allow yourself to fully feel the energy.

Continue to move the flashlight slowly through your body. Direct the focused light on each body part and only move on to the next once you’ve experienced the energy entirely. To do so, turn your thoughts inward and think about your body. Consider all that it does in order to support and protect you. Then turn your thoughts into feelings and find appreciation. Simply feel each body part and how the blood, thus your energy, is constantly flowing. Do your best to visualize the spotlight highlighting every bit of you until it reaches the top of your head.

After your flashlight has explored your entire body, imagine moving the light away until it’s faded. Let the soft glow from the light linger and visualize your whole body radiating with energy. Feel the flow of your breath and the beat of your heart. In this moment you are unified with your body. All of your thoughts and awareness are focused inward. You don’t need to worry about what happened or what’s to come. Just ruminate in your energy.


When you bring your full attention to your body, you are surrendering. You’re able to keep your thoughts focused on what is, which will always include you. You may not always be able to find the “Now” moment, but you can always find strength and serenity when you need it. Know that you have the strength to quiet your mind so that you can nurture the serenity from within.
