Visualization is a method used to help people achieve their desired outcomes. The purpose is to obtain something in the future by imagining that you already have it now. Before anything is created it’s a simple thought first. By visualizing your desires you’re one step closer to achieving them.
Returning to your past is part of the Reunite with You journey, so when you utilize a visualization you aren’t just envisioning the future. The goal is to remember your genuine sense of self and bring it into the present moment. From there, picture or feel how you can integrate your identity so that it follows you into the future.
For the following visualization it’s recommended that you complete the related practice first. This way you’ll have a better understanding of your stress and where it comes from. Thus you can visualize releasing it completely.
Do you want to release yourself from what's weighing you down?
Stress can manifest in the body as well as in the mind, so it’s important to identify where you’re holding stress. Begin by bringing your awareness to your body and notice where you feel any tension. Observe your muscles to see what’s tight or strained. Now do the same with your emotions. Notice if you feel a pit in your stomach or have anxious thoughts racing through your mind. Allow any stress to reveal itself and give yourself permission to feel it fully.
Once you’ve identified your stress, imagine it all coming together and condensing in your body. Visualize each type or area of stress as dark sludge. Let your stress sludge move through your body until it settles in a powerful place -somewhere it feels heaviest. It could be your stomach, your chest, or your head. Choose a spot that you identify stress with the most.
Now that your stress has assembled in its designated area, imagine the individual stressors combining to form one large stress sludge ball. Feel the weight of it inside of you. Notice how heavy it feels, yet how light the rest of your body is comparatively. All of your stress is gathered together and continuously churning inside you. If you let it continue to gather and grow, then the ball will burst and flood your body with stress once again. So it’s time to release your stress ball.
Visualize your stress ball and all of the density and negativity it holds inside. Then depending on where you gathered your stress, pick an action or body part to release it through. You can choose to let go of the stress ball physically or visualize it mentally. You could scream your stress away, cry it out, or release it through deep breathing. Decide what method works best for you and release your stress ball now. Imagine the stress lifting its weight off your body and flying away from you.
Once the stress ball disappears it leaves behind a hole where it gathered. At this moment there is no more stress to fill it. All of the heaviness, darkness, and negativity has left. So imagine the area overflowing with light from the release. Visualize the light uniting and creating a glowing ball that completes your stress space. Imagine the ball of light bouncing around inside of you. Let it bring you comfort and warmth from within. Allow the light to integrate throughout your whole body, spreading positive feelings to combat any future stress that tries to dig in and hold on to you.
